Pig Sty

Your room is a pig sty. I have said that so MANY times. But, I'm starting to believe we are all filthy pigs. Gee, I cleaned my ceiling fans today. I was ashamed. How long ago did I clean those? They were full of fuzz, dirt and what ever. Which, when you clean off, falls all over the place, including your own head and body. Yuk. I don't know how they got so gross. Last week, same thing...took off that little piece at the bottom of the fridge...my gosh, doesn't anyone ever clean this house? I may not have to say "your room is a pig sty" any more.. maybe the whole house is? No, not as bad as that room downstairs....the one I don't want to enter for fear of maybe health issues...it truly may be a pig sty. As for the rest of the house, maybe I need a maid?

Human Nature

Sometimes human nature doesn't measure up like it should....at least not MY human nature. I hope that I can be the kind of person who doesn't pre-judge people, doesn't judge others because we never know why they are doing what they do, or acting how they act. I don't want to be someone who would seem "not nice". I want to be a nice, caring person. I want to smile and be smiled at, greet and be greeted and just enjoy life and hope to spread some joy around...show some kindness. Tonight when I was walking the dogs, a kid comes blazing down the sidewalk on his skate board. I could tell he wasn't going to move over or anything, so I went to the parkway with the dogs and walked in the grass. Just when I was thinking a not very nice thought, the kid looks at me and says "thank you.". Wow, I never expected that. So, I need to learn to remember to do what I said above...I hope to not get mean thoughts...and if I do, erase them. Sometimes, like tonight, human nature is pretty nice...I hope that boy saw my smile after he said thank you! And, next time, I need to smile earlier....

Sammy Sighs

Hi. I'd like to start by saying that I am NOT a wussy dog.

Today it was rainy and cool, so Mom decided we'd go for our walk anyway. It was only "misty" she said. Ok, fine. When she gets out the harness, I go hide and cower by Dad. I don't know why, it's just part of the "game". But, anyway, she decided we needed to wear sweaters. Or shirts .. because it was cool out. We all know us Yorkies don't have the undercoat to keep us warm. But, gees, she puts this shirt on me:

Doesn't she know, that makes me look like a wussy? I don't think I need to be wearing a shirt that says "mama's boy". Geesh. She was saying how she looked at some doggie blogs online and some of them were wearing really cute clothes. I am sure they were girl dogs like Silly Sissy, not manly, verile boy dogs like me. I am totally embarassed by this whole thing. So, she puts the shirt on me and I run into her bedroom and bury myself in the doggy bed and blankets. But, she finds me and off we go on our walk. I couldn't hide and pout in the closet because the door was shut.

Now, Silly Sissy has a coat that doesn't say anything embarrassing. But, she wouldn't care anyway, she has a slight case of ADD (attention deficit disorder like humans get) and would probably forget that she even has a coat on!

Silly Sissy did better walking even though she did think she has to be in the lead all the time. One of these days she'll learn it is much easier to walk nicely like I do. But, she still gallups ahead of me, over me and beside me.

See in this last picture...I am getting annoyed. But, Silly Sissy doesn't care. She is having too much fun. I think I should just get to walk by myself.

She did do better about barking this time though...even though she did bark at a nice English Spaniel dog on the route. I ignored her and kept walking briskly so as the other dog wouldn't notice my stupid wussy boy shirt I was made to wear.

Speaking of barking, I did have to bark once. There was this really scary person or monster or something running towards us. He had on these noisy shoes that sounded like they had nails in them, and a band or something around his head. He was carrying some kind of scary looking hat. And, his shoulders were huge...monstrous....scary. But, then, Mom told me he was just a football player running to the gym from practice. Whew, that was close. Good thing I was there to protect her.

I also try to mark our route by peeing on several trees, flowers and tall grasses. That way if we were to get lost, I could lead Mom and Silly Sissy home. But, Stupid Silly Sissy doesn't hardly let me stop to mark the way..she pulls and jumps and I can not get the trail marked. She obviously doesn't know the story of Hansel and Gretel.

Mom was so proud of my walking good, she wanted to take my picture. But, I fooled her...as soon as she gets ready, I turn my head. She'll learn to not make me into a wussy boy.

PS. If you have any suggestions for me and Mom or want to comment about my sad situation (being put in a wussy boy shirt) or anything else, you can leave a comment at the end of any post....just click and leave your comments!

Sundays

I wish I could think of something clever to write today. Something humorous...something to make us all smile. But, it's just one of those days....but a beautiful day outside. Just back from walking the dogs. Now, I think I'll relax and watch some of the new episodes on tv...finally the new season is starting!

Lazy me. It seems to me that on Sundays when I was young, we used to watch

...

do you remember this show?
(Little Joe...Hoss....)

Hmm...I think I'm pretty boring. Have a Good Week!!!

Sammy Sighs

Hi. Just got back from our walk. We went later than usual, but that's ok with me. I wish Mom would take just me instead of making me walk with Silly Sissy.

The pictures are kinda hard to see because it was getting dark out.

Sissy was doing better walking, but tonight she was kinda hyper or something, and she started out too fast. Then she looked at me and I think I heard her say something about me being pudgy. I am NOT pudgy. I am muscular, not skinny like a little waterbug like Sissy. Muscular...NOT pudgy. Stupid Silly Sissy.

And then, she did something that was just totally embarrassing. She yelped at other dogs we saw on the way. Not just a little "hello there, how are you? " But this awful yelp that sounded like a screaming ninny or something. I mean, it was so awful, so annoying and just SOOOOOO embarrassing. So, I just kept walking at my nice even pace, held my head up high and pretended she wasn't really at the other end of this leash.

Now, I'll go pout in the closet some more. She is just too much.

Oh, ya, Mom said tomorrow Justin and Angie are getting married! She is happy for them. I don't really know what that all means. But, we wish them the best and CONGRATULATIONS to them!

Movies, Movies

Yippee...It's going to be on! Lifetime...Thursday night! You HAVE to watch if you haven't already seen it a jillion times and memorized your favorite lines! And, be sure and catch the part where Kathy Bates takes on the two yuppy young ladies in the parking lot after they take her parking spot! It's just great...

Fried Green Tomatoes
Made: 1991
Genre: Dramedy
Stars: Kathy Bates, Mary Stuart Masterson, Jessica Tandy Based on the novel by Fannie Flagg. Evelyn Couch (Kathy Bates), an unhappy, overweight housewife meets a charismatic old woman, Ninny (Jessica Tandy). Ninny tells Evelyn a story of two women (Mary Stuart Masterson & Mary-Louise Parker) during the Depression that involves themes of abuse and racial violence. Evelyn is so inspired and entertained by her weekly visits with Ninny that she begins to exercise, watch her calorie intake, and assert her independence from her husband (Gailard Sartain).

Come, on, it's just one of the best, you laugh, you cry, you think. And, Jessica Tandy is so wonderful! They all do a great job, and it's just...well, great.

Speaking of movies, my daughter and I were flipping through the channels the other night and couldn't find anything to watch. We ran across the movie "The Birds". Do you all remember this one?

The Birds (1963) is a modern Hitchcock thriller/masterpiece, his first film with Universal Studios. It is the apocalyptic story of a northern California coastal town filled with an onslaught of seemingly unexplained, arbitrary and chaotic attacks of ordinary birds - not birds of prey. Ungrammatical advertising campaigns emphasized: "The Birds Is Coming." This Technicolor feature came after Psycho (1960) - another film loaded with 'bird' references.

Well, anyway, we caught the part where all these little birds came down the chimmey, out the fireplace and were swarming through the living room. It was crazy. I mean, even one bird in my living room would make me lose it.

THEN, as if I needed to think about birds invading us, the next morning I went out to get the dogs their morning food, and hear like what seemed to be a million birds in the trees around. I mean, it it was LOUD. Then, all of a sudden, they all took off flying, and it was just surreal. You could just hear this big old swoop and then look up and it was just a black sky filled with flying birds. I knew it..I was in the movie..I was Tippi Heddron...augh, oh, yikes. I ran back inside with the dog food and secured my safety.

Oh, and did you notice who else was in "The Birds"???? Jessica Tandy...wow! From there to Fried Green Tomatoes...who knew?

Sammy Sighs More

Hi. This is Sammy again. My mom has been sick with a cold and hasn't been keeping up on any news. She is starting to feel better, though...she was really sick Thursday and Friday. At night she gets kinda croaky again. I know she was better this weekend, because she did clean house (yippee, I got to chase and bite the vacuum...I love that, but it makes her really mad!)

Then, she went to Gering to see PJ and meet his girlfriend, Geo. She went with Tina. This is a picture of PJ and Geo, who traveled to Nebraska to see Aunt Jill. My mom thinks Geo is just great, and guess what? She has a little Yorkie named Dulce...so she has to be a great wonderful person, right? Hee hee.

They get to visit there until Monday, and Mom thought that made Aunt Jill really happy. She said it was nice to visit with everyone. I had to stay home, but Sophie came over for a play day, so it wasn't as bad as just being here with Silly Sissy and Shelby.

Then, later that day, Mom took me for a ride out to Sophies house. I've never been to this house before. Silly Sissy rode along too. But, I was having so much fun. Mom wouldn't leave the window rolled down very far ( she thinks I'm stupid enough to jump out or something), so she turned on the air. I love having it blow right in my face! Here is a picture or two of mighty me enjoying my ride:

Silly Sissy is too dumb to enjoy the good things in life. She has to sit right on Mom's lap.

Then, at Sophies house, it was just heaven. She has a big yard and field. She is so lucky. I could just run and run there. But, I heard sometimes she gets stickers. So, I'd have to be careful.

Then, today, Mom took me and Silly Sissy on a walk. Sissy actually settled down and stopped being the little waterbug that she usually is. It was really fun, but we were hot and tired when we got home.

It was also bath day, but I stood there and took my bath like a soldier. After all, I got to go for a ride, run and a walk this weekend. Silly Sissy jumped out of the tub before she was supposed to and ran around like a half drowned rat. Girls are just so dramatic. Phew!

Anyway, hopefully Mom will feel better soon and write something interesting. I could use a break, don't you think? I just wanted to mention that I had a good weekend, I didn't even have to hide and pout in the closet at all! Have a great day!

Sammy Sighs

Good morning!

First of all, mom and dad left me for FOUR days. Can you believe it? Left me here with Silly Sissy and Shelby. Crystal was here to keep us company, but I am still mad...they got to go off and have fun and left me here.

So, today, when Mom left the house to go to work with her shirt on inside out, I didn't tell her. I just let her go to work that way. I bet she was embarrassed when someone asked her if her shirt was inside out. Well, she deserves it.
Maybe I'll quit pouting now, I'll see....

Monday Monday

Oh, Monday, Monday...

Can you believe it is already Monday? And, I haven't blogged since August 30??? Where have I been???

Well, busy, I guess. Over Labor Day weekend, our family was all here and we celebrated Brooklyn's 7th birthday. I'll have to write about that.

This past weekend was our "annual" bike ride up on the Mickelson Trail in South Dakota. We have enjoyed riding bikes up there with a group of friends for the past few years.

This year, the weather wasn't cooperating too much. We drove up to Deadwood on Thursday, taking our time, enjoying the sites, and relaxing on the way. Friday we all rode, some more than others. A couple people went and hiked Harney Peak. Everyone had a great time, and the temps were in the 60's or so. We stayed in Deadwood that second night too.

Then, we woke up Saturday morning to this:
Yep, it was rainy, and misty, and cool out.

Luckily some of us had already ridden on the trail closest to Deadwood, so we headed towards trailheads on down the road further. It was cool and rainy most of the way, but did run into blue sky, so knew there was hope for some riding.

The people, however who rode from Deadwood to Hill City got wet, sleeted on and windblown. (They are apparenlty much hardier than I am!) I was in the lucky group that rode in cool, but not wet, weather.

The scenery was beautiful. The group was awesome and fun, we laughed and talked and enjoyed ourselves. (I'll try to post some photos on my photo page soon).

Sunday the weather was about the same as Saturday...wet and cold. Some of us opted out of freezing off our rear ends, but some die hards rode part of the day. We were unable to complete the trail due to the wet and cold, so our riding day ended at Pringle.

The following are items none of us seem to own:

(This raincover includes a kepi-ish flap on the back to shield the space between the helmet cover and the collar of your jacket/cape. It's wonderful. It's also, without a doubt, the geekiest thing you can wear on a bicycle, and that's saying something. )

Waterproof socks

or

Liners?

Or Just A Rainsuit?

So, I'm thinking some of us will probably invest in some of those things, forgetting all about the years we rode in HOT weather! Just because.....we all want to be prepared for ANYTHING...as long as we don't have to buy any of it at Home Depot.
