Sammy Sighs

Hi. Hope you are all doing well. First of all, Mom apologizes for missing Thankful Thursday, and wants to assure you she has lots to be thankful for (probably meaning moi, Sammy, right?)

Yesterday was quite a day. Since Mom has Thursday and Friday off, she decided it was time to take Silly Sissy up to Dr. Colleen and see why she is becoming hairless. I mean, it's embarrassing.

So, she decides we should really take advantage of a trip to the vet, so off ALL THREE of us doggies go in the truck with Mom and Crystal. I LOVE, absolutely LOVE, riding in a vehicle. I get in, sit on a lap or beside someone, and just enjoy it. Sometimes, I like to stick my head in front of a vent, and get any breeze that is coming out, if the windows are closed. It is great, and I am so good riding.

Shelby loves it too..she laid down on the back seat of the truck all the way (60 miles both ways). She was so happy, too.Silly Sissy just doesn't fit in, like usual. She pops around the vehicle back and forth, back and forth, annoying me, and I 'm sure Mom doesnt' appreciate her hopping over there and trying to drive. Good grief. Mom doesn't need help driving.(See how I am trying to sit nicely to the side, but NOT Sissy...)

Anyway, we got our shots and Sissy had to have some tests done. She found out lots of things that weren't wrong, and then I guess they took some of her blood. I don't know why, but Mom said it's to test for hormones to see what is going on with Silly Sissy. I hope they find out before she goes bald...good grief! Well, its not that bad, but she does look dumb. I of course, have nice thick hair and good skin.

But, you know what that vet said ... she said "Sammy can't afford to gain any more weight". WHAT? Is she saying I am fat? I AM NOT FAT. I AM STRONG, MANLY, VERILE. Good Grief. That was sure insulting. I only weigh 14.5 pounds. Wonder how much Dr. Colleen weighs...huh? huh? Ok, I'm sorry, Dr. Colleen is nice and thin, but geez, talk about insulting my ego. Oh, well, Mom says we'll be able to get in more walks now that the ice is gone. I'll show them...I can get back to my 12 pounds.

Sissy weighed 9 pounds. Of course, she has thin hair and no hair on her hips...what do you expect....come on...Ok, I'm sorry, it's just really eating at me.

Poor Shelby has lots of lumps on her and is getting cataracts. She's such a good sister dog. Those lumps are probably going to get to her sometime, but for now, she's doing good, plays with us every day. The dr. said we could give her some pain meds for her joints, so we may have to do that. The dr. said it would be torture to take off all the lumps and they will just keep coming, so we just need to let her be, happy as she is. And, she didn't gain any weight over the whole year...they made sure to bring that up....ok, ok, I'm sorry...you can tell, I'm just really hurt over this issue.

Anyway, here I am, driving home with Crystal driving. Mom tried to keep Sissy away from me.
We were all really tired last night.Have a good weekend!

Update

The falcon is on its' way to its' new home in Denver.

Plans? Plans?

Wow, it is already Tuesday. We have a three day work week this week and next! Both of the high school basketball teams are going to play at the state tournament! The girls have had an undefeated season, and won State last year, so they are pretty fired up. They start playing tomorrow.

I had an offer to go there with someone...almost thought I would...but...

Then, I had an offer to ride to another town with a friend on Saturday, and another offer to meet another friend in Rapid...wow.

I'll probably do nothing. Ha.

And then the boys go to Lincoln next weekend for the state tourney. They didn't have such a good season, but came around at Districts, so it's pretty exciting for them. Once again, I dont' know about any plans.....ha.

Right now, I am waiting right now for a call from the guy who is buying the falcon. After the accident, we decided to just sell it. We don't really want to go thru all the fixing up, hunting for the parts, etc. This guy is driving here from Denver to pick it up! We are happy it sold fast, yet it is bittersweet.

Tina wrote a blog post about the falcon. You'll have to read it!

Have a Great Day!

Thankful Thursday

What are you thankful for today? Today I have felt thankful for some wonderful memories recently shared about my grandmothers and their kitchens/cooking.

(I am formulating a plan in my mind for a collage/picture/something or other featuring old handwritten recipes, along with old photos of family kitchens.) I now have a theme for my "creation"...thanks to Aunt Sharon, which will be "Made with Love". Now, to become creative....

Do I Give In?

My head hurts....BAD. I have taken my migraine medicine. I have tried deep breathing. I have to function, so I can't just lay down and put pressure on my eye. I cant' lay down and rub my neck hard.

I really think I need a soda. Drinking a diet pepsi usually does help my migraines. So, I am thinking that even though I gave it up for Lent, maybe I should go get a nice tall one with crushed ice. Just to help ease my misery. I think God will understand. Don't you?

Sammy Sighs

Hi, it's me Sammy...I haven't blogged in a while. I've been busy guarding the house, taking care of things around here.

Well, Mom was given some new "coats" for me and Sissy. I hate coats, as you know. She put this one on me:(See how I ignore her, and snub her for embarrassing me...)

Here is Sissy in one of the many other gifts:

Silly Sissy is so clueless, really. (And, as you can tell by the "boot toe" post, she is just naughty!--I'd NEVER do anything so horrible.)

While I am busy guarding the house all day, (I hide in the bedroom so no one can see me standing guard)...this is what Sissy and Shelby do all day. I don't think they are much help at all ... do you?

It's all up to me, the manly man dog that I am. And, I won't be wearing any stupid coat, either!

Bad Sissy

Look at this sweet, innocent face:

And, now, the toe of my new boot:

Fun

I had fun this weekend! Tina invited me to go along to a party for her work...to Deadwood, South Dakota. Our room and dinner was paid for, and Tina got some other company perks as well.

It was fun, and a nice group of people to be with. The food was good, especially the crab legs! (The prime rib didn't rate as high.)

Tina and I are not much for gambling, but it is interesting just to watch people and all the activity.

After dinner, Tina, I and another gal ended up, somewhat accidentally, riding the trolley all around town and back. We had some good laughs and lots of visiting. Tina and I were in our room by 10 or so, relaxed with some HG TV and went to bed. I worried about snoring too loud (yes, darn it, I DO snore, when I do sleep) and hopefully didn't keep her awake too much!

Today, we drove into Rapid after a good breakfast and shopped. I haven't shopped for myself in a long time, but it was loads of fun, and who can resist buying boots for 9.97 (especially when they used to be 80-100 dollars? WOW!!) We had a great time and I was so glad to be invited along!

We are thinking we need to get my oldest daughter and plan a girls trip to do something soon, a musical, spa day, what? Anything would be fun. I don't think my teenage daughter would enjoy such an outing yet. But, someday...

Oops, forgot to mention we enjoyed lunch at Olive Garden before we headed home. YUM! Soup, salad and breadsticks! It was delicious!

It was a great change of pace, and now, back to normal....ha!

Thankful Thursday

Gosh, I almost forgot about Thankful Thursday. Now, if I am going to participate, I should remember to post.... I am thankful for finishing my "creation of many forms" project, and truly, I am thankful for being given the chore..even if I did complain a few times??? I appreciate being asked to tackle it and loved the challenge.

I'm thankful for so much, but better save up for next week...

What are you thankful for today?

Lent

Well, yesterday was Ash Wednesday..wow, the time has gone by fast! I can't believe it is already lent. I especially liked what Father Jim had to say last night...how really participating in Lent should reflect you..the things you do are not to be "recognized" but good deeds that you don't need acknowledgement for. He really hits the nail on the head...we should do for others without expecting accolades. Do small things every day to improve someone's day. We can all do that. I'm sure going to try.

In addition, and just because, I have decided to give up soda pop for six weeks. Yikes...but a great exercise in self control, right? I hope I have some!

And, by the way, I am STILL working on the forms that I am creating...day #3...but should finish up today!

Computer Issues

I had a day. I get so engrossed in trying to do something sometimes, that I forget to almost breathe...I swear. I didn't even notice the hot flashes today. I'll sit and work so long that my shoulder blades are just burning...and I'll get stiff from not moving, but I just get so engrossed...is that some kind of freakish control thing?

Anyway, I do a quite a bit of maintaining and publishing on our website where I work. I enjoy this, and try to get staff involved in contributing news, articles, photos, etc.

Today, a student came in and asked if they could put their club's webpage on the website. I said sure...and he handed me this tiny little flash drive with tons of information on it. He said...I'll stop by next period. I said...whoa, I'm in the middle of something..don't come that soon! Anyway, I downloaded the information to my computer and started working on uploading it to our website after I finished my other project. I figured out how to upload it all via the ftp site, and got it all going. Even their links worked on our website. I linked the information and set up all the pages. However, the photos didn't show...just those annoying tiny blank boxes with red x's in the corners...what? why? So, I decided I would win this battle. I asked my boss for some input and what he suggested didn't work. I told the kid that I was just done except the photos...he didn't know why they didn't work either....then, simple as day (although by now after doing all this it was quitting time almost) I thought...I have to re-write the paths for all those photos after uploading to the ftp site. Duh. Why didn't I think of that earlier...well, yippee...90 minutes later I was all done...I didn't think about having to do that once you upload a webpage that is already designed...usually I just get information and put it all in myself. So, I learned something new. I was so excited that another gal in the office, R, had to hear me cheer and go on and on about the ftp, upload, download, jpg, gif, html, and all that jazz.

I'm sure she thinks I am a true freak. (Geek, Nerd, what else can we use here???)

Anyway, new project tomorrow...type, personalize to our specifications, and upload a couple sets of forms to our database (no, no web work tomorrow!) Wish me luck.....
