Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope you have a wonderful day filled with family, friends, love and great memories. (This picture is chosen in honor of my sister, whom I recently teased by sending her a wicked witch figurine....)

Memories
Today I am thinking of Thanksgivings past. So many memories flood my thoughts!I remember sharing Thanksgiving at my grandmothers house at least a couple times. (We had quite a drive to visit them.) There was always plenty of food, and I am particularly remembering her little woodpecker toothpick holder. That is a strange memory to have, huh?
I remember having Thanksgiving at my aunt's house too, where there also was so much good food and love. I remember fondly sharing Thanksgiving at my sister's home, my sister-in-law's home and at a friend's.
But mostly, I remember the memories and traditions of growing up with my parents and siblings. We were always blessed with so much! I am so lucky! And, now, I hope to give my children and grandchildren the same feeling of tradition and love that I grew up with! I am so excited to have my children and grandchildren here with me! I will miss my parents, sisters, mother inlaw, all of my extended family. I will miss my grandparents. But, I will have a home full of my family, my memories and lots of love.

Sisters
Here are some quotes about sisters that I am fond of:
Sisters are different flowers from the same garden. ~Author Unknown
A sister is a forever friend. ~Author Unknown
A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life. ~Isadora James
Our roots say we're sisters, our hearts say we're friends. ~Author Unknown
Sister to sister we will always be, A couple of nuts off the family tree. ~Author Unknown

And, finally, what I hope I am, being the eldest of four sisters:
An older sister is a friend and defender - a listener, conspirator, a counsellor and a sharer of delights. And sorrows too. ~Pam Brown
I hope that I am a good sister, because it is one thing in life I am so happy to be. Having sisters is special, and nothing can compare. We four are all so different, and I admire my sisters so much!

Monday, Monday

Wow, hard to believe it is already Monday, and the Monday of Thanksgiving week. Time is flying by! Did you all have a nice weekend? Ours was fairly quiet.
We spent time with Tina and Adam some, which was nice. Tina and I went to the craft fair here in town, and enjoyed that, but it has really shrunk in size over the past few years! There were a lot of fun ideas, though. I'm just not very crafty.
John is still suffering with his c-pap mask, so will probably have to get a different one this week. I think I am getting used to the sound of it, though. He still looks like Darth Vader, but I don't tell him that.
Happy Monday!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Time to remember all the things we have to be thankful for. Time to remember some of the special holidays you have shared. As a mother of grown children, we will celebrate here at our home with them. And, the grandbabies, yippee. Having my family around me is the best thing ever, I enjoy it so much. I will miss being with my parents, sisters, mother in law, extended family and others, though. I am greedy--- I want it all! I am busy planning what to make, bake and eat. It is still 8 days away, but I am excited to see all of my kids! And, then the Christmas decorating will start.....

The Wind and Oz
It is SO windy out today! It sounds as if the building will be lifted right into the land of OZ. Which reminds me...Yep, the Wizard of Oz is on TV tonight. I already sent my email to my little Sis, who absolutely hates that movie, but I always have to tease her about it...what are big sisters for, right?

And, I sure have been feeling like Dorothy lately "there's no place like home, there's no place like home" (and missing my mama and dad).
Have a great day and stay on the ground!

TV and Me
Last night I was thinking, Yay, some of my favorite shows are on...House, then Without a Trace and then Law and Order SVU. Great TV night for me. So, I hunker down and start watching TV about 7:00. I saw all of House, but missed half of Without a Trace and only caught snipets of Law and Order SVU. Why? Because I snoozed. Yep, fell right asleep during the show, no matter how exciting. Am I old or what?

Movies
I haven't seen many movies lately, but Friday night while my husband was at the hospital for a sleep study, I rented "Made of Honor". I enjoyed it..it was cute. Then, on Sunday, my daughter and I took in a matinee! We went and saw "Nights in Rodanthe". It was a good one, too. We had both read the book and had been anticipating the movie! It was nice to get out to the theater..a real treat! I usually just wait and rent movies, unless I go with the grandkids!

Sammy Sighs
I can't believe what Mom and Tina did today. They decided to make doggie coats. Can you believe that? Oh, the humiliation. They were so proud of themselves, though, so I tried to not show my disgust at wearing the stupid thing.
Here are me and Silly Sissy in our "outdoorsy material" coats:
And here is Miss Sophie in her matching coat:

And, look how many they made the three of us...I can't imagine what lies ahead for me.....

And, then Mom ended the day by giving me and little miss bossy butt (Silly Sissy) baths. It was quite a humiliating day, all in all.

It Did Snow and How!
Man, it is windy and snowy, well, a blizzard. The wind blew all night, and the snow started. First news of the day was that school was closed...whoopee...no work. But, in an email to my boss, he said if I could make it in, to come ahead as we have a lot to finish up before Friday. Since there were four other people working, I felt guilty then, so got ready. I dug out the drift by the back door and then by the front of the garage door. It was windy and wet and snowy out. I got in the car, and the streets near our house were fine, but turning the other direction, there was no visibility. And, when I got to the last corner before getting to work, I got stuck. I tried to get out on my own. I see another car on the opposite corner get stuck and yet another on the street itself. I kept trying to get out to no avail. The drifts of wet heavy snow were not helping, and I w
as getting all wet in the meantime. I couldn't see so I had to open the window, which caused the blowing wet snow to be hitting me in the face. I finally called the office and sheepishly told them I was stuck and they said they'd send my boss down to help. Meanwhile, an angel of a guy pushed me out after he pushed out the other two cars. It took him a bit, but he did it! I didn't even get to properly thank him because he was so cold and wet he ran to his car after helping me. But, THANK YOU! whomever you were. And, I headed straight back home to hang out with the doggies. It is not fit for man nor beast out there! Oh, and when I got home, I looked in the mirror and my eyes were all black and smeared from getting wet...I looked like a zombie or something, with my eyeliner and mascara all over. No wonder my saving angel ran to his car!

Snow?
The weather is changing. We have had warm days almost all fall, with the exception of a couple days. This was the first Halloween I remember in a while as being warm enough for the kiddos to enjoy trick or treating. It has been misty and windy today, and they say tonight it will turn to snow. I never FULLY trust the reports until I look out the window, but it sounds like it could snow. I made a pot of chili today in honor of the cool day. Right now it is just gloomy looking.

I WON!
I won! I can't believe it. I never win anything. I saw that Julie at Another Chance Ranch was giving away the "Twilight Series" books. I left a comment and I won! Thanks Julie!

Horoscope for Today
LEO
Monday, Nov 3, 2008 You might be feeling a little like getting out and cutting loose a bit right now. And you could probably really use a breath of fresh air and a break from some of the responsibilities that those around you have placed on you today. Realize that any issues that may still be weighing on you are probably out of your hands, so just try to let go of them if you can.
You might have a little trouble dealing with a few people right now, particularly those closest to you. Despite any conflicts or difficulties you might be experiencing around the house today, try to remember that there probably are a lot of people who really do like and appreciate you.
Do you take stock in your horoscope? That was mine for today. I think I do need to let some things go that weigh heavily on me right now, but I have trouble doing this. And, I would love to sleep all night without waking up feeling anxious in the middle of the night. I sure must need to stop and see the good, huh?

Halloween Fun
We missed out on carving pumpkins this year. We had fun at Chloes birthday party watching the kiddos decorate their pumpkins, though! I got these pictures on my phone last night showing Brooklyn working on his pumpkin...

I was so happy to get the photos..it looks like he is having fun. And, able to do his own these days...gosh! I didn't get a photo of the final pumpkin. Hmm....
