Interesting...

I treated myself to a couple movies after finishing up Saturday night (since Wednesday, I had gone through 115 computers...unbox, set up, pack up for transfer to schools). And, I was thinking I wanted to watch a good movie. Upon a suggestion, I rented Up in the Air. I liked it! It was easy on the eyes (George Clooney) and a good story. I recommend it!

I also watched The Time Traveler's Wife. It was good, but I didn't like it as well. Maybe I would enjoy it more watching it a second time.

It is a BEAUTIFUL spring day here! It was nice yesterday too, and the doggies got a nice walk and visit to the dog park!!

Happy Monday, blogger friends!

Book Review

I just finished reading the book "The Lovely Bones" yesterday. My mom and I share books, and she recently gave me three more bags to go through. This is the second one I read out of the most recent sharing. I had read "Fatal Mercy" before this. It was a good read, as well.

"The Lovely Bones" is a movie that was released in 2009, so I am glad that I have read the book before I watch it! It is a good book, with an interesting view on how a young girl who was raped and murdered watches over her family and friends from heaven. It is unique and makes you really think about things. I liked it and recommend reading it!!!

Other than that, it sure is a nice weekend, and the dogs and I enjoyed an after supper walk. Sammy was not too happy about being on the coupler leash with Sissy, but he survived! I have got most of my chores done, and went to the Y yesterday too! So all in all, so far, so good!

The Frog Story

Someone at work shared this, and I thought it was very good, so I am sharing it. I was hoping to find something fun to post about today. I will tomorrow...

The Frog Story

There once was a group of tiny frogs who arranged a competition.

The goal was to reach the top of a very high water tower. A big crowd had gathered to see the race and cheer on the contestants. The race began…

Honestly, no one in the crowd really believed the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. You heard statements such as: “Oh, WAY too difficult??” …and… “They will NEVER make it to the top.” …or… “Not a chance they will succeed. The tower is too high!”

The tiny frogs began collapsing, one by one. Except for those, who with a sudden burst of energy, were climbing higher and higher. The crowd continued to yell, “It’s too difficult!! You won’t make it!” More tiny frogs got tired and gave up…but ONE continued higher and higher and higher. This little frog wouldn’t give up! After a huge effort, he was the only one to reach the top.

Then all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it? A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal? It turned out… the winner was DEAF!!!!

The wisdom of this story is: Never listen to other people’s tendencies to be negative or pessimistic…because they take your most wonderful dreams away from you, the ones you have in your heart! Always think of the power words have because everything you hear and read will affect your actions! Therefore: ALWAYS BE POSITIVE! Encourage yourself and others to reach for their goals! And above all: “Never listen to the people who try to drag you down and tell YOU that you cannot fulfill your dreams!”

Can I just stay home and sleep? I think I needed more time.

Thoughts for Sunday...

Today's scripture and homily was on The Prodigal Son. We are all familiar with the story. And we are all familiar with the "good" brother, who had stayed home and remained faithful to his father. He was jealous and upset when his brother, the prodigal son, returned and that was celebrated. Of course, the "good" brother just didn't realize his worth to his father, his rewards that were always there for him. But of interest, Father said that we all suffer from the Prodigal Son Brother syndrome. And, I know I sure can. I need to realize that I am not the neglected, but the blessed, in the same way as the brother in the scripture.

I really think my thoughts this Lenten season have been focused on improvement, understanding, graciousness and acceptance. I need to focus more intently on those and remember them daily. As a couple of administrators in my building say, everyone brings something to the table; everyone has a gift to share. So instead of complaining and griping or gossiping or getting caught up in that type of conversation, I need to focus on what each persons' gifts, and give thanks for those gifts. I know I am guilty at times of only seeing the bad, only griping about something. I need to be better at acceptance and graciousness.

The cardinal sins are wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and glutton, and oh, they are so easy to commit! I need not be jealous or envious, but truly glad for others' accomplishments and gains. I do not need to be prideful, or greedy, or any of these things. I hope that I can truly live to be the best Elsie-Helen I can be, knowing that I am human, with my human faults.

Thanks for letting me ramble today. I think I am on a personal journey of some sort, and just need my road map to become clear.

Super Saturday

Wow, here it is Saturday night already...the day is almost gone. It was a beautiful day outside! Perfect for walking the dogs! I went to the Y this morning and worked out. I am aggravated with them as they have a lot of equipment that is "out of order". Good grief! But a good day nonetheless, and got some work down around here as well as some work for "work" too!!

Well, anyway, to stir it up and avoid waiting on a treadmill or eliptical at times, I joined an early morning class once again (I still attend my 5 PM class faithfully three days a week). I had done an early morning class in the fall but it ended in December, and she no longer teaches. So, I tried out the "cardio" class Friday morning. Well, they incorporate step aerobics with toning with weights. Well, those of you who follow my blog realize I am a klutz. No, I didn't have an accident or trip over the step or anything. But, I had trouble following along with some of the steps! I took a place in the furthest back row that I could find! I got lost when we had to do something about "around the world" when you step straddle and turn? Oh, my! Too much for this gal! Wish me luck with it next week! I still hope to add in spinning again too. Summer is coming!!

I haven't cooked much all week, as hubby has been out of town, and my daughter is old enough to fend for herself! Ha...but call it a mini break! But, feeling like we needed a real meal, I grilled steaks tonight, and boy do I feel stuffed. Gah!

I am watching this movie on Lifetime..."Who is Clark Rockefeller?" It is pretty good so far.

Take care to change your clocks, and have a great Sunday, blogging buddies!

Happy Friday!

There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a
big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.
~~ W. Clement Stone

My goal is to improve myself with positive energy....wish me luck! I want to be positive, and be the best I can be. I want to be the kind of person my grandmothers would be proud of. I want to excel. I want to be "Elsie-Helen".

Date with Daughter

My youngest daughter and I went and saw "Alice in Wonderland" last night. The 3-D effects were totally awesome. The movie was good. And, Johnny Depp....what can you say. He's just brilliant. I think I love Johnny Depp. But not as much as I love Ashton Kutcher. Don't worry, Ashton, I won't replace you.

Tuesday Schmoosday

Hello! I was going to be such a good blogger, and I don't know where my time goes. I also can't seem to think of clever things to say...or meaningful things... or just plain old things??!!! :-)

I had "winter break" last week Thursday and Friday, so we had a four day weekend. Did I travel or do something exciting? Nope! But, I got a lot of cleaning and organizing done at home...(still have lots more to do). And, I worked out every day! And, enjoyed the break from the norm. So, that's good.

I also got my new phone! The Droid! I am trying to learn how to use it and all of it's features. There is so much to learn!! Fun! Do you remember the days when you just answered the phone and got a surprise as to who was on the line (no caller ID)?? Or even better, party lines? Someone posted about this on facebook the other day...and brought back memories of days gone by! Hmm...food for thought??

Thought of the day...

I read this on facebook, and it made me smile...

Live each day like it's your last because if you keep pissing me off .......it will!

I know, it is not deep. It is not uplifting or inspiring. But, I love it. :-)
