So, I have been working a lot lately with student records, so I have noticed the trend in unique names. Sure have seen some different ones.... Nyle, Xavier, Deaven, Landarias, Neo, Surenity, Zorin-- just a small sampling. A facebook friend said she met someone named "Furious".
But, then there is the two namers. I mean it...kids that have two first names. Yep, not a first and middle two first names and then a middle. Or the ones that have a first name and then two middle initials...or two middle names. What, can't you decide on a name so everyone wins and you use them all? I don't understand....I must be old?

Sadness
When heaven gains an angel, they rejoice. Why is it that here on earth we feel so sad? I am sad. My uncle passed away. I am sad for my aunt. She has lost her parents (my grandparents), siblings, and both of her children. Now she lost her husband. The big C. Cancer. I hate Cancer. It claims too many lives. But, for her to lose so many of those closest to her, I feel sad. Where she gets her strength is beyond me. But, I should learn from her. We all should.
It's true that when a tragedy happens, we feel this way. We think about how we take things for granted, how we should remain faithful to God, how we should tell our loved ones how much they mean. Why is it we forget always too soon?

Saturday
Saturday I did this:
I didn't do much else. It was a lazy weekend. And, now I want to do my weekend over...I need more! I have a long list of things I didn't do. Uh-Oh!
Have a great week!!!

Fall
I like fall. Don't you?

The only trouble here is fall is so short. You move from hot summer, get a few fall days and whammo-winter comes. But those fall days are heaven. The crisp air, cool at times, but not too cold. The evening air. The turning of leaves to beautiful colors. The smell of fireplaces starting up on cool evenings. Sleeping under blankets with the cool fall air coming thru the bedroom window. So many little favorite things!
Maybe this year I shouldn't complain of the leaves falling and having to clean the yard....and enjoy the moments...

Get the look...???
A friend and I were recently at a mall, where she stopped to buy a gift card for her teenaged niece. I was looking around at the great new styles for younger people (younger than me, I guess). Very cute. However, how can they afford it? Several of the styles involved five layers...I am serious. Some of the shirts were 50.00? Times 5? Hmm. I guess I live in a different world. Maybe I'll stick to just two layers.
Anyway, tonight I was looking on line to see if I could find a photo of the "layered" look, since I forgot to take a picture with my phone at the mall. I found this...Instructions on layering. Wow, what a hoot.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:
- Time to try on shirts at your favorite store
- Layering a dainty camisole with a blouse is a hot trend. Make sure the blouse is long enough to be tucked into your pants so the camisole can take center stage.
- Seek out tops made specifically for laying. Most companies are now making sweaters and shirts that are thin enough to layer comfortably.
- When layering, make sure the necklines of the shirts are different. This adds flair and variety to the style.
- Make sure the base shirt has the highest neckline.
- Introduce your favorite summer tee to the fall and winter months by layering it with a long sleeve cotton shirt. Read more: How to Achieve the Layered Shirt Look | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_2149145_achieve-layered-shirt-look.html#ixzz10JvdvCLH
I mean, really..instructions on how to dress. Hmmm....oh, and after you layer your shirts, and vests, you have to add some chunky jewelry...a couple items or more...so plan on more money for that, and then you get to start on what you wear on the bottom...

A bit of Review...
I saw "Eat, Pray, Love" at the theater this weekend. I liked it. My youngest daughter, did not, which I predicted. I had read the book a while ago, and liked it. The movie was, I am sure, too philosophical for my youngest. Regardless, I enjoyed it. Have any of you seen it? The quest for balance and purpose is interesting for me. ( I could use a little balance... ) The scenery was breathtaking and the food, well, looked delish. The various life styles and ways of life were great to get a sense of.All in all, I would recommend it to my women friends.
Plus, the romantic interest in the last part was, well, rather hot....maybe it was the accent?

I won, I won, I won!
I got an email over the weekend that I had won a prize from Mental P Mama. I am so excited. She sponsored a contest in which you had to say something about your pets. Well, that was easy for me with my two "dorkie yorkies"!
And this is what I won:
I mean, can you EVEN believe it???? Wowza!
Thanks, Lauren!!!

Another Highlight
Another highlight of my weekend was attending church with my mom and sister at the church I grew up in ...you remember it through earlier posts, I am sure! There is just something about the feeling of "being home" that occurs when you revisit the places of your life. Those feelings of "being home" leave you with your heart full, your mind at ease and your soul fulfilled.

Weekend Wow
It was a great weekend...we got to spend time with our folks and some of our siblings. We so enjoy those moments....the fun, the laughter, the love and the memories....oh, yea, and the food! We are lucky to have the opportunity to have these moments! Two of my hubby's great aunts and some of his cousins showed up at his mother's home on Monday...it was such a nice surprise for her, and all of us!
This is Aunt Isabel, Aunt Sadie and Mom I.
Sissy and Sammy haven't gotten quite used to their cousin dog, Kya. She is too rambunctious for them yet. But, I hope they will adjust and love her soon. Sammy did better...Sissy, surprisingly, was the one to not make friends. But, they did better the last day! Kya is such a cutie, full of energy and growing fast!
Thanks to all for the memories and love....

Loss of Dear Friend
Today I attended a memorial service for a dear friend. She was 84 when she became an angel away from earth. She had been an angel on earth before that. Sadly, we lost her human side a while back due to Alzheimer's and other health issues. She was a loving caring person, who I met through working in the legal system and we became friends. She was so wise. She was a hard worker, German heritage, a "lady". She and her husband farmed and raised a family. She came through many hard times with grace. I admired her greatly and she will be missed by many. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. ~From a headstone in Ireland
Another Food Place~
This quaint little cafe in Denver was great! My son likes to find little cafes that are family owned and have been in Denver for a long time. This one fit his bill. Although there are several around now, this one is his fav. He has enjoyed visiting with the owner as well as other family members there. He wanted us to go for breakfast.
It was a nice little cafe...a reminder of times past while yet being clean and nice. The service was again GREAT. The food was nothing short of wonderful. My grandson and son both recommended the steak and eggs.
They all agreed it was a good choice...and I had a bite of the steak and it melted in your mouth!
Again, more than plenty to eat...the meal would last you ALL day!

Memories from Denver #1
I have been wanting to post about a couple restaurants we tried on our last trip to Denver. Our son introduced us to:
(Jack-n-Grill). This has been featured on Man vs Food, wherein the guy attempts to eat their 7 pound burrito!! The burgers were GIANT! I thought I'd keep it light and order something smaller...so I chose (thinking also by the lower price) a stuffed sopapilla....
Uh, not too small! I ate about 1/3. Maybe. So my son got a take home box so he could enjoy it for lunches during the week. This was my husbands order:
I think he ordered the Chili Rellenos. At any rate, the service was GREAT and the food was awesome. Go hungry, or share!!!
