Brooklyn Writes #2

Here, as promised are two more of the writings from winter break that Brooklyn did:

This one reads:
I played marbels with my Ant and my soon to be uncel.  It was pretty fun.  Jessy one almost every one.  Expt for to.  I one 1 of them.  My Ant 1 1 of them 2.   that was how fun it was.

PS It was fun.

As you see, I went through it with him and discussed some spelling issues.   And, I can already see some bad "texting" habits in his writing.   ....

Now...this was my favorite:
It reads:

I like my Grandma becaus she is nise.  Next she is also fun.  After that she is the funest on the earth to.  Last this is what I like about my grandma.  PS I love you

See why I like it??   I didn't write the corrections on this one...perfect as is for grammy...

Job Success Tips From Man's Best Friend-Part I

I found this online, and found it to make a lot of sense... More to come!

Job Success Tips From Man's Best Friend

You read the headline right; your beloved canine companion can give you advice about work. Dogs are loyal, intelligent, eager to please, and one of the best teachers people can have. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that certain doggie principles can be applied to work life, as well as life in general. Here is some simple, good-to-know advice from man’s best friend:

Lesson #1: Be Eager to Please
This does not mean brown-nosing your work days away. It simply lends itself to the notion that, as an employee and a coworker, you should be ready and willing to complete your job to the best of your ability every single time you are tasked with an assignment. Whether it is making copies or a completing a larger task, you should work efficiently to get the job done. Have you ever noticed that when you play “fetch” with a dog, no matter how tired they are, how young or old, they always give 100% effort in retrieving the ball or stick quickly and drop it at your feet with a smile? You should aspire to do the same.

Brooklyn Writes #1

Yay, think I am about back to normal.  I was back to work on Monday, but it has taken most of the week to gain my strength, and get my tummy under control...so I am back.  Yay!

When Brooklyn was here during his winter break, his mama told us he was to practice writing.   So, of couse, we complied.

I want to share some of his writing.

This one explained it all:

Here is what it says:

Brooklyn    12-7-10

I don't like wrighting.  Is because it is boring.   It is also a wast of time.  Last But not Least It ruined my vaction!!!!!!!!!!!! That is why I don't Like wrighting!

P.S.  I hate It.

Ha.   I can see why he had to write.   He is really, really smart, but does not like to read or write, which is opposite of me.   He can spell, but I see he doesn't seem to care about spelling when he writes.   He LOVES math and science, but I am encouraging him to like reading (we still read together when he is here at bedtime) and write...so wish me luck.

Upcoming..more writing  fun!

This was Pretty Cool...

We dont' usually tune in to the Miss American Pageant.   However, this year, we flipped over to see how our Miss Nebraska was doing.   The main reason was that she is from Gering, Nebraska, which is a neighboring town, and it was really awesome that this girl from small town, western Nebraska was competing.  On top of that all, she was only 17!

As we turned over, we became interested and watched the whole darn show, because she kept advancing, and somehow our small town pride made it worthwhile to watch!

And,

SHE WON!    How amazing, for this small town Nebraska girl.   I hope she represents the United States, Nebraska, and all young women well.

Movie Review...and More...

We rented "The Solitary Man" from Netflix.   First of all, I can never find movies I want to watch on Netflix.  I am not sure I like the way you browse, so maybe I need to figure more out about it.  Sometimes I like to look at the movies out on Blockbuster first, and then find them in Netflix.  My daughter gave me that idea.

Anyway, our latest movie rental was "The Solitary Man", starring Michael Douglas.  I thought it was really really boring and fell asleep.  Hubby said it did get better.  Hmmm.   I didnt' care, it is packaged up and sent back.   I hope the next one on our list will be better.

We bought "The Social Network" and I am anxious to watch it.   I bet I'll like it.

I spent like two hours today managing all my apps on my iPod touch and moving them all into folders.   That was time I SHOULD have spent organizing my dresser and closet.    You can tell which I preferred.  I did have my "regular" housework done and laundry almost completed, plus cooked breakfast, did some work, and cleaned out two little drawers in the end table, before I did this.   But, I am so happy with all my little folders on my iPod Touch.   (I have already done this task on my iPad.)

Yea, I get geekier all the time.

Have a great day!!!

Dear Deb

Dear Deb,

I miss you.  We didn't gather as a group this year to remember you or to once again grieve through laughter.   However, you were on my mind all day December 31.   Not that you are not on other days.

There is so much I wish to tell you.  So much I wish we could share and talk about.

I know you are there listening and watching, but I miss you and your physical being.  I miss our talks, laughs and tears.

It has been  more than a couple years now since you took your own life, but it still hurts.   I hope you found peace.

I love you and was proud to be your friend.

Love, Joanie

And then...

I didn't mention that I got this beautiful new pinky ring from my hubby for Christmas!!

It's so pretty!   This picture really doesn't give it justice. (Last year I got the one on my fourth finger for Christmas!)   Lucky me!!!

So, then, I got this ring for Chloe while she visited, so all the girls would have a new ring:

It is sure nothing fancy, but she loved it.  I had gone looking for one of those little adjustable rings that we used to get when I was a kid.  Couldn't find one..wonder if they even make them.  But, found this "jewel" at K-mart and it fit the bill.  Had to wrap the back with some yarn to make it fit!  (I couldn't remember how we used to do that with class rings when we went steady??)

And, of course, can't leave out the grandson:

He just really "needed" a watch so he won't have to turn around in class and look at the clock and get in trouble.  My advice to not worry about the time and just work until the bell rang was not that well taken.   Ha!   But, he would not be too interested in a ring!   At a visit to the jewelry store, they both picked out stuff....and I said "no!".   But, surprised them later with these great Kmart buys!   :-)   Perfect price for kids and grandmas!
