Horoscope

This is part one of my horoscope today:

A lot will be going on around you today, but you should have the energy to handle it all. If you have a taste for fun and the social life right now, just try not to get too carried away with things if you can help it. You'll be much better off if you can just manage to exercise a little discipline and self-restraint today.

So, I have to exercise a little  self restraint?  Ugh!

I feel really disconnected today..kinda like on the edge of crabbiness...so I will have to try extra hard with this self restraint thing!
HAHA.   Have a good day!!

Elijah...

Elijah is growing up so fast!  He took his first two steps this Sunday!   He is a joy every day-just as our other grandchildren are.  Just as it should be.

We are lucky that he lives here in our town, as we get to have him over at least twice or three times a month to sleep over, and we have so much fun.   He always eats good, plays hard, and fills our hearts with love.   Here is a picture collage of this past weekend:

Being a grandparent is so wonderful!!!  Each grandchild just makes our hearts grow larger....

Complaint Free World?

At the recommendation of my hairstylist, I have been reading A Complaint Free World by Will Bowen.  Have any of you read it?
  • The premise of this book is that our thoughts determine the quality of our lives, our words reflect what we are thinking. By controlling our words and avoiding complaints, criticism, or gossip we improve the quality of our lives

She gave me the purple bracelet so I can do the 21 day challenge.  Believe me, I have had to start over already a couple times!

This is the idea behind the bracelet:
  • It’s been said that the measure of a great idea is to be found in its simplicity. And there is no simpler or more powerful way to eradicate complaining from your life than our Complaint Free bracelet.
Unlike other bracelets which tell the world that the wearer supports a cause, our bracelet is a tool that monitors how often you complain and helps you track your progress toward becoming Complaint Free.

Simply put the bracelet on either wrist and every time you complain switch it to the other wrist. The goal is to go 21 consecutive days without complaining or switching the bracelets.
(If interested, you can order your bracelets here this is a package of 10 for $10.00:  Complaint Free World Bracelets.  I downloaded the e-version of the book to the iPad, but you can find them on Amazon.com, and many other places.   I think there are some sights out there for free ones, as well.  Also, there is a widget you can download to track your progress:   Download Widget.)

Any thoughts?

Words of Wisdom...

My mantra right now from my horoscope:  If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.

So true, right?  So simple.

This reminds me of something I heard recently at a funeral we attended for my ex-boss.  He was a great boss, and great leader, and a great friend.  He was a wonderful man, and his life was filled with great adventure, history and variety.  He had been an Air Force commander, involved with the Apollo missions, a rancher, an attorney, a father, a husband, and so much more...

He was a man of his word-ethical, fair, just and wise.  He was a smart man, but very down to earth, practical, and giving.

At his funeral, one of his daughters was talking about him, and included this...he always gave them two choices:

"You can do this."    OR
"You can do this and like it."

Of course, we all had quite a chuckle, but really...what a
great parenting skill.  Teach your children that attitude can make all the difference.  You can do something, be crabby and downright depressed, or you can do it with a good attitude and see what a difference it makes!

This was also applied to food that they were served for dinner...

"You can eat this."   OR
"You can eat this a like it."

Ha!   I could use that with my youngest daughter, even yet!   (And she's an adult).

Anyway, words of wisdom....  let's all "do it and enjoy it"!!

What does the season of Lent mean for you?

  • Prayer?
  • Fasting ?
  • Charity?
As I attended Ash Wednesday services this week, I contemplated on what it should actually mean, besides the old jokes about "what did you give up for lent"?   A couple years, I tried to not give up but to give back, to "pay it forward" so to say, to be more generous, loving and accepting.

Giving something you love up, does however, make you aware of our blessings and what is truly important.   I am giving up something this year, but I also want to still be more charitable, generous, loving and accepting.  I want to be the kind of person that Elsie and Helen would be proud of.

I hope you don't mind me asking for your prayers to guide me in my journey to live the life that I need to live....to be the best person I can be, and to always be faithful.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my dad's birthday!

I wish I were there with him having a wonderful cake...perhaps chocolate...or maybe something exotic like Baked Alaska.  (I remember we actually made that once!)   Certainly, we would not have Angel Food, as he has a habit of squishing it down when he cuts it... Ha!

Happy Birthday Dad, I love you!!!!

Excited!

For two years, we have talked about going to see the musical "Wicked".  We are finally going in May!

I'm so excited!   As you know, I love "Wizard of Oz" and everything Oz.  I did NOT really like the book Wicked   but I know we will LOVE the musical!

Finally!!!!

Pixie

Our little Pixie is growing so fast!   She is quite a little imp and keeps us very busy.  I am starting to think puppies are a lot of work!  But, the return we get is great as well!

Sissy and Pixie are now starting to get along pretty well, and playing a lot.

What would I do without them?   :-)

In a new (or renewed) light...

This weekend I saw my husband in a "renewed" light.   Several things made me realize how much he cares for his family and how lucky we are.

I guess sometimes in life we move through the days without stopping to be thankful for the lives we have, look back and see how we have grown through the years.

Take a moment today, and be thankful.   I know I am.

Weekend Warriors!

We had a three day weekend, and helped Tina and Adam move....they are now closer to us, so that will be nice.   By the time we left today, their house was already cozy and welcoming.  We are glad they are closer!

It was nice to spend time during this weekend with my folks as well.  They are the best!   It was so nice having their support, love, understanding and advice as always!  (Not to mention the hot showers, warm beds and food!)

Tina will be enjoying being close to her grandmas and grandpa!

Wow, I last posted on February 4.  I am not doing well at blogging, and why?   I love to blog and read my bloggie friends updates.   I need to make time for me to do that!

Tonight I am sitting on the couch at my mom and dad's after helping one of our daughters move for the past 2 days.   I'm a bit tired and achy, but as always it is so nice to be here with my parents...and be the daughter...you know what I mean?  Just regress a bit into my childhood...let them parent me for a couple days!

I promise to do better at blogging.   Thanks to those of you who stick by me, in thick and thin!

Just Because

Really?   January 19 was my last post?  I am not a very good blogger.  I want to be.  Darn it!   We had just a bit of snow on Friday, but sounds like others got blasted!   I was all ready for the snowstorm that was predicted for Thursday night, so I wore my snow boots anyway yesterday.

Because I love my Uggs.

I just do.

Really.
