Storm
Last night I was helping with a mowing job that is out in the country. It started out really humid and muggy, then the sky was turning dark. I was thinking, I hope we can get this done tonight, so we'll be done...so kept a mowing...pretty soon the wind picked up. I mean really, really picked up. I thought, ok, I have loved the Wizard of Oz too long, I'm being transported into the movie.
It was horrible, you couldn't see but a few inches in front of yourself. But, I thought, it'll blow over...I can keep mowing. Dumb, huh? I noticed my friend waving me over, so I mowed into that direction and we put the mower in the shed. By the time we got to our pickups, it was even worse, could hardly keep the door open to get in, and things were flying in the dirt and smacking me in the face. I got into the truck and headed home, when I started getting pelleted by hail. Ok, it wasn't horrible hail, but hail nonethless. I turned on the radio, and they were saying how our "tornado watch" just expired. Ok, so we were totally unaware of THAT!
It hailed, rained and poured. The wind had wreaked havoc in town, with trees especially. (See the photo to the left...it shows an uprooted pine in front of the courthouse, branches already removed.)
As you can guess, have to finish that mowing today after work.
