Easter Weekend

I can NOT believe it is Easter weekend.  Where has the time gone?  It arrived so quickly!

I did get out my Easter decorations before Brooklyn came to visit for his spring break.  Had he not been coming, I may not have even got that done!   But, it spurred me on!  Ha!   I haven't been very "Easter-ly"!   No plans, due to the fact that we have been on the run and then next weekend, we will have Elijah's first birthday party!   (And a surprise shower for daughter #3 will follow that).   And, then  coming up is our little Chloe's First Communion as well!  Busy time!

We will dye Easter eggs later today with little Elijah so that will be an adventure, I am sure!   So, today, I prepared a light supper to follow that for the kids (his parents), and then made some "Easter cookies":

The little flower ones didn't look much like flowers when I frosted them.  Oh, well!  The frosted bunnies are "chocolate" bunnies!

It seems only yesterday that I was coloring eggs with my own children!   :-)   Good Memories!!!

A long journey home...

I go to say goodbye to my cousin, Sharon, this Friday.

She has been in a coma for over 40 years...imagine that?  Really about 2/3 of her life, as she was in the accident that caused this not long after her 21st birthday!   It has been a long journey home for her.   A long journey for my aunt and uncle.  A long journey for her family.  She has been greeted in heaven with loving arms from my grandparents, I just know it!   Thank you grandma and grandpa for being there at the gates to meet her.   She can now be free of the body that kept her captive for these years, and be alive with God.

Sharon was not on life support these years.   She was on a feeding tube, but that was all.  She has experienced some health problems over the years, and still remained on earth.   Her parents have been faithful to seeing her and spending time with her, loving her, caring for her all these years while she has been in a nursing home.  She was taken from us many years ago, really, but we now say goodbye to her as she enters glory.

Goodbye, my dear, beautiful cousin!   I love you...

Yikes

Crystal was back up at the hospital again yesterday all day and night...contractions again...but they finally got them to lessen.   We sure want to meet our little Alexis, just not quite yet...

Dear Alexis, you need to grow and get a bit stronger yet...ok?

Weekend Recap

Wow, time flies.   Last week my youngest daughter was having some contractions and was in the labor room a while, just to get them stopped.   I was a little worried and stressed out.   She is due May 14, so we dont' want Alexis to arrive too early!   So, I went up and sat with her a while.   She is doing better, but just not great.   This will be her last pregnancy.  She really is making a wise choice, although she is young.   Elijah and Alexis will only be 13 months apart!   She'll be busy!

My next to youngest daughter is pregnant as well.  She is sooooooo excited and so are we.  This is their first baby, and she isn't due until September.  So we will have lots of new little ones around, and Chloe and Brooklyn can be the big kids!!!  They will do great being the helpers and leaders of the pack.

I cleaned house Friday after work so I wouldn't have to spend the weekend doing that...I need to do that more often (I used to always clean during the week).    We went out and enjoyed supper with a group of friends. (This is a usual Friday night thing if we are here.)

Saturday hubby ran to a neighboring town with a friend, so I had the whole day....and it was beautiful outside!   I walked the dogs, washed and cleaned the car, did some odds and ends, and picked up Elijah!   The dog walk is a story in itself.   It was Pixies first time on a leash.

On to Elijah...he came over and had a bath and he and I attended mass Saturday night (5 PM).  He was so good!   Then, we played, played, played after dinner, and had so much fun.    Sunday, he went out with us for breakfast and had a pancake...yum.   He had a short nap and played a lot more.   I wanted to take him out on a walk, but I am waiting on hubby to fix my stroller (the tires need replaced).   He is so much fun.  He walks now, so keeps me pretty busy.  I took him home in the afternoon.   I'll write some fun things he did later this week as well.

Hubby was gone all day riding 4 wheelers with some buddies.  He had a lot of fun.   I watched "Army Wives" before he got home, and  just cried.  That darn show!!  :-)

Now, back to the work week.   Monday of daylight savings time always sucks.  But, it'll be nice that it is still light after zumba tonight.

Have a good week!

Family Reunion

We just attended a family reunion last weekend.  It was so great seeing cousins and aunts and uncles!   It is hard to explain, but somehow I felt like I was at my "roots".   I wish my mom could have gone, and my sister too, but understand it doesn't always work out.   My hubby is so good to attend!  Tina went too, which meant a lot to me as well!   I need to keep those extended family connections.   Extended family is more important than we think.  We had such nice visits....

Hope all is going well with all my blogging buddies...I have not been a very faithful blogger!   And I have a lot of blogs to read, I miss the posts, and must get caught up!

Have a great day!

The best medicine is...

family!   I was lucky enough to spend this past weekend with my parents and mother in law.   Just what the doctor ordered!

I guess you never out grow needing your parents!

We visited with my parents  a lot, and just enjoyed everything!   We got to visit with my mother in law both days too!   My folks took us out to a favorite little Mexican restaurant (Liras) on Saturday night  and my sister joined us.   It was quite yummy!   I had one of their super good (and large) margaritas too!   My mom baked a very delicious cake and we enjoyed that in the evening!   Then, my sister invited me over to visit on the deck with her neighbors and a friend, so I walked over and joined them a while.  It was all in all a very relaxing wonderful Saturday!   Then Sunday, I got to attend my home town church with my mom and sister...a small gathering, but  a very good service.   The visiting minister was someone I attended school with (he graduated a year ahead of me, and I was friends with his sister).  I always enjoy attending the church I grew up in.   I just feel at home there.  (Not that I don't love my church and church family here!)   After church I joined my husband at my mother inlaws and had one of her wonderful homemade mexican food breakfasts, and visited with more family there as well.   After visiting, we loaded up and headed home.   It was just the weekend I needed !!   The dogs love going to see "grandma and grandpa" too! (and they are starting to be nice to their cousin dog, Kya, finally!)

I am so blessed to have such wonderful parents, mother in law and family!

Happy Weekend to ya'all!

Vacation

We had the week off.  It's already Friday, and I don't feel like I got enough time!   I ended up doing a few hours of work a couple times while I was off, which is ok, but then, I kept on getting texts, emails and calls and just decided it could wait.   If it's not an  emergency, it can wait until Monday.  So, now I am already thinking I will be drowning Monday?  I think I should go back rested, with a renewed passion for my job and face each day with a smile!  So...in re-thinking my "vacation", I am enjoying today with Chloe and Brooklyn.   I have been with them all week.  We spent some time today with Elijah and Crystal, too!   Then, tomorrow, I return Brooklyn and Chloe to their parents.   Then, a lonely 2 hour drive home, all alone (hubby got called to work out of town).   To a lonely house.

Last night Brooklyn was talking to me on the couch and I teared up.   It is going to be awfully lonely around here.  He has been here since right before Memorial Day weekend!

It has been fun with Chloe for the week.   We all enjoyed a quick trip to eastern Nebraska (blogging to follow regarding our trip).   And, then home to relax and just be kids.

And, for me to be "grammy".   There's nothing better.

Reflections and Discoveries....

First, a shout out to my sister, who I had some fun with yesterday...she is the best math teacher in the world!   Now, I took a lot of math classes in high school, and I did great, but to share any math knowledge with anyone is beyond me.  (And my knowledge is not like hers in any sense!)   It made for many rough nights with math homework with my kids...causing me and them to turn to her lots of times!   She is a GREAT teacher!   That quote yesterday made me laugh...there are so many of us that "fear" math...it is a "math anxiety community"!   I think it is just our insecurities, because look at how many of us use it, every day!   Cooking, building, traveling, shopping, digging post holes, and more!   Those things all involve math.  It is immersed in our days, yet we fear it!   Thanks to teachers like my sister, we can learn math and be prepared!   Thanks, Sis!

Yesterday I traveled with my hubby and grandson to hubby's doctor appointment about an hour away with and ENT specialist.   The appointment went well, but really didn't get any answers for the pain he's been enduring in his tooth/sinus/eye areas for several months, but we'll plug along with it and try this plan that the dr gave him.   After, we ran in to get some vitamins at Walgreens, and I saw this on the end of the aisle:

Yes, I was soooooo excited...this would keep my pillow COOL all night?   I snatched it up, so tired of the pillow feeling like it's on fire during the night.   It's called   Forever Cool   and is a gel pad you put inside your pillowcase.   They even have one for your bed...a bed mat.    I tried it out last night, and it was a bit stiff, but did stay cool.   I'll have to give it a few nights...but so far, so good...

Have a good day...off to the races...
